Are there any diamond engagement ring alternatives?

My Girlfriend is opposed to diamonds, particularly the ones that come from Africa. Are there any alternatives to a Diamond Engagement Ring? I have searched on the internet and all that I can find is cubic zirconia, and the like. I don’t like fake diamonds. I want something real, and priceless. Any Ideas?

I assume an engagement ring is separate from wedding rings.
